Coordinated by the Swiss Research Institute of Small Business and Entrepreneurship at the University of St. Gallen, the Global University Entrepreneurial Spirit Students' Survey (GUESSS) is an international benchmarking study on entrepreneurial spirit among students in various polytechnics and Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs). To date, 14 countries, including Singapore are participating in this study. NYP is participating in the survey.
NYP organises a "Commercialisation opportunities in Bio-medical, Healthcare & Life Sciences" pitching event on 29 April 2009.

Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) has been selected by the National Research Foundation (NRF) for funding under the Proof-Of-Concept scheme. It is the only proposal from a polytechnic out of 9 selected from a total of 138 applications received by NRF. The other successful proposals were submitted by NUS with 5 and NTU with 3. Each proposal is funded up to $250,000 for one year. The flexible pressure sensor technology in the proposal makes use of novel nanomaterials to achieve high pressure sensitivity and large sensor area density. The improved pressure sensivity could be applied to many different areas e.g. healthcare and may even enable new potential applications, such as signature recognition.
